Nicolas Anelka says he expects to be joined at new club Shanghai Shenhua by former Chelsea teammate Didier Drogba at the end of the English football season.
Anelka was presented on Thursday as the latest new signing for the ambitious Chinese club, which has also been heavily linked with a big-money move for Drogba.
Anelka said: “I don’t want to say too much, but I expect Drogba to come.”
Sections of the British media have reported that Shenhua is ready to pay the 33-year-old Drogba a weekly salary of STG270,000 ($A400,000), making him one of the highest-earning players in world football.
Drogba’s contract at Chelsea, where he has played since 2004, expires at the end of the season.
