The Victory sort of stumbled into third place, losing in Wellington, drawing at home to Brisbane and losing at home against the Wanderers in their last three matches, only holding on because the chasing pack were busy taking points off one another.
As for City, they spent a long time outside of the top six, but wins over Perth, Western Sydney and Western United in their final three games helped springboard them into the top six.
There is no questioning the experience of this City side at this time of the season as well and they certainly know how to win an A-League Finals match.
As for the Victory, they have been plagued by inconsistency all season but seemed to be able to do just enough to get by.
Not to mention the Victory’s last win came in the third derby of the season on April 6, breaking the tie after a pair of 0-0 stalemates in December and February.

This has all the signs of a cagey, tense match that gets decided by one chance or maybe one mistake when fatigue starts to set in.
