Arsenal are coming off costly back-to-back losses, slipping back to outright fifth and three points behind Spurs – albeit with a game in hand. After a woeful 3-0 loss at Crystal Palace, the Gunners were equally listless in a 2-1 home defeat to previously struggling Brighton, only getting on the scoresheet through Martin Odegaard in the 89th minute.

But they get an opportunity to regroup against an opponent low on confidence this week. Southampton have managed just one point from their last five games and were obliterated 6-0 at home by Chelsea last weekend. It could have been worse for the Saints, who had leaked six goals by the 10-minute mark in the second half.

Arsenal have lost just one of their last 12 EPL games against Southampton and came away with a 3-0 victory at home in December.

The Gunners have reverted to their inscrutable ways, but with plenty on the line they should take care of a badly out of sorts home side and are decent value to do so.
