The A-League’s newest club makes its debut overseas with Mark Rudan returning to face the club he guided to the A-League finals last season.
Naturally there’s no history to go off for Western United but only four teams have won their first A-League match, the most recent was Gold Coast United defeating Brisbane Roar in 2009.
Rudan has established a pretty solid squad and while there are a few questions over the age, players like Allesandro Diamanti still have the quality to dominate matches at this level and he could be the difference here.
