The Australian takes on Petra Kvitova – the very opponent that beat her in last year’s Quarter Finals in straight sets. Since then Barty has become the world number 1, and beaten Kvitova in their last three encounters. Both players are coming off a fourth round scare, where the Czech had to fight from a set down against Sakkari, while Riske who eliminated Barty from Wimbledon last year dragged out a three-setter. Whoever wins this match will firm as favourite to win the tournament in my opinion, and it will promise to be an extremely tight contest. Four of the seven matches they’ve played have gone the distance, and there’s great value on offer for this one to do exactly that too. I’m leaning towards the Australian in three, based on her recent run against the Czech along of the support of the home crowd.
