Dellacqua advances at Indian Wells

Casey Dellacqua survived a three-set showdown with Italy’s Roberta Vinci to advance to the fourth round of the Indian Wells Masters on Sunday.

But Australia’s last remaining hope in the men’s draw, Marinko Matosevic, was overcome by 16th seed Tommy Robredo, going down 7-6 (8-6) 5-7 6-4 in their second round matchup.

The 29-year-old Dellacqua proved too strong winning 4-6 6-4 6-3 against the 13th seed Vinci, and claiming three break points in the third set to close out the match in one hour, 46 minutes.

Meanwhile, second-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland breezed into the fourth round with a 6-0 6-0 thumping of Germany’s Annika Beck.

Radwanska, the world No.3 who is seeking a first title of 2014, needed 67 minutes to defeat the 48th-ranked German and advance to a fourth-round clash with France’s Alize Cornet.

Cornet, seeded 22nd, battled for three hours and 26 minutes to beat 14th-seeded Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro 6-7 (4-7) 7-5 6-3.
