Kerber eliminated from Wimbledon round two

Defending champion Angelique Kerber has lost 2-6 6-2 6-1 to Lauren Davis in the second round at Wimbledon.

The German baseliner, seeded fifth, was broken seven times by Davis, who won 14 points at the net and hit 45 winners in their clash at the All England Club on Thursday.

Kerber is the third top 10 seed to fall with world No.2 Naomi Osaka and Aryna Sabalenka bowing out in the opening round.
