Karolina Pliskova has won her second Brisbane International, overrunning Lesia Tsurenko 4-6 7-5 6-2 after being just two points from defeat.
Serving for the title at 5-4, Tsurenko lost 13 straight points to surrender the set when a maiden top-level title beckoned.
A rolled ankle in the second game of the deciding set didn’t help the unseeded Ukrainian, who was left to ponder what went wrong as the Czech fifth seed celebrated with Australian coach Rennae Stubbs.
