Russians win French Open junior titles

Russian tennis teens Andrey Rublev and Darya Kasatkina won the junior titles at the French Open on Saturday.

Kasatkina rallied past top-seeded Ivana Jorovic of Serbia 6-7 (5-7) 6-2 6-3 in the girls’ final, while the fourth-seeded Rublev beat Jaume Antoni Munar Clar of Spain 6-2 7-5 in the boys’ final.

Kasatkina raced out to leads of 3-0 in the second set and 4-0 in the third.

“It was my last junior tournament, and I’m happy to finish like that,” she said. “I’m starting to play pro tournaments.”

Jorovic double-faulted 13 times in the match.

Rublev, a quarter-finalist in the boys’ draw at the Australian Open, broke Munar Clar twice in each set to become the first Russian to win the boys’ title at Roland Garros since Vladimir Korotkov in 1966.
