Spain’s Davis Cup team unchanged for semi

With Rafael Nadal out injured again, David Ferrer and Nicolas Almagro will lead Spain’s team for its Davis Cup semi-final against the United States.

Captain Alex Corretja named an unchanged team from the quarter-finals victory over Austria with the fifth-ranked Ferrer and No.12 Almagro playing singles and Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez teaming up for doubles.

Nadal is unavailable for the September 14-16 semi-final as he needs at least two months to recover from a partially torn tendon in his left knee. The third-ranked Nadal has been sidelined since a second-round loss at Wimbledon in June.

Corretja says former Davis Cup player Feliciano Lopez will be with the team as a practice partner.

Defending champion Spain is vying to reach its fourth final in five years.
